Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India]: Every day, lakhs of
orders are delivered across India and paid for by customers. But for the
business that sold them, the money arrives later, often as one bulk payout
covering hundreds of orders, after commissions, shipping, returns, penalties
and cash-on-delivery remittances have been deducted along the way. When an
order is never paid, a fee is charged twice or a return is never credited, the
seller rarely finds out.
Veritally, a Bengaluru-based startup, has built an
independent payout auditor to close that gap. It works on the seller's side:
instead of trusting a single bank credit, Veritally checks every order behind
it.
Marketplace sellers upload the payout and order reports they
already download from Meesho, Amazon or Flipkart. Veritally matches each order
to the money that actually reached the bank and shows what did not: delivered
orders that were never paid, charges that were too high or repeated, and
returns that were never credited. Every gap comes with its proof (the report,
the row and the amount), and Veritally writes the claim message to send, then
tracks each claim until the money arrives.
Built for D2C brands
For direct-to-consumer brands, the problem is bigger and
harder to see. A brand selling on its own website is paid through several
separate channels: payment gateways such as Razorpay, Cashfree and PayU settle
prepaid orders in batches, couriers such as Shiprocket and Delhivery remit
cash-on-delivery collections on their own cycles, and shipping is billed
separately, often with weight discrepancies and return-to-origin charges. The
bank shows a handful of large credits, while the brand's store shows thousands
of orders marked paid or delivered. Few brands have the time or the finance
team to match the two every month.
Veritally connects directly to the brand's store and reads
its orders live, without reading customer names, phone numbers or addresses.
The brand adds its gateway, courier and bank reports, and Veritally runs four
checks: whether every prepaid order was settled in full, whether every
delivered COD order was remitted, whether freight and weight were billed
correctly, and whether every settlement and remittance actually reached the
bank. For each gap, it explains the likely cause, writes the claim for the gateway
or courier, and lets the brand mark what it gets back. Brands that prefer not
to chase claims themselves can ask Veritally to raise and follow them up, for a
share of the money actually recovered.
"For a D2C brand doing a few thousand orders a month,
money slips through between the store, the gateway, the courier and the bank,
and nobody owns that check," said Aloka K, Founder and CEO of Veritally.
"Brands spend heavily to win every order. Veritally makes sure they are
actually paid for each one."
Veritally for WooCommerce, a plugin for WordPress stores, is
available to download, with a free leak scan and plans from Rs 499 a month.
Veritally for Shopify is in early access, with a free leak scan and a 7-day
free trial on paid plans.
Privacy and pricing
Privacy is built into the design. Reports are read in the
seller's own browser, and customer details are removed before anything is sent.
Veritally never asks for marketplace passwords and cannot move money. The
service works in eight Indian languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu,
Kannada, Marathi, Gujarati and Bengali.
"A small seller works hard for every order, and then
loses money in the gap between 'delivered' and 'paid' without ever knowing
it," said Aloka K, Founder and CEO. "We built Veritally so anyone,
from a home-run Meesho seller to a growing D2C brand, can check their payouts
in minutes and get back what is theirs."
The first check is free. Marketplace sellers pay a share of
the money a check finds, or a monthly plan if they check every month; D2C
brands choose a store plan. Veritally is available at https://veritally.in, and brands can learn
more at https://brands.veritally.in.
